Minor change of plans

I tried a night of interrupted sleep, and it effected me more than I thought it would. Since my college classes take priority, I'm going to start even softer than I'd originally planned. As things stand now, I'm acclimated to falling asleep a little after 10 pm, and waking up at 6 am. I'm going to keep that about the same, add in the nap times when I'm awake, and start shaving away at my nightly sleep time. Basically, the only difference from my original plan is that I won't initially have interrupted nightly sleep.

However, my goal is still to end up replacing my nightly sleep with a few naps. There are two ways I could go about this.

The first method: I could start falling asleep later over time. Once I "uncover" a scheduled nap time from my nightly sleep, I'll just start taking that nap, and initially fall asleep for the night shortly after waking up from the nap. I'd then continue the process of slowly taking away sleep.

The second method: I could gradually start introducing breaks in my nightly sleep. Maybe I'd start with just one break, and start it off at just five minutes, and increase it when it felt right to. I'd keep doing this with each nap until I'd end up at the naps I'd originally scheduled.

I'm going with the first method. It will give a more immediate benefit, since it's much easier to hang out with friends around 11 or 12 than in the middle of the night--and the same could be said about getting things done around 5 AM rather than earlier in the morning.

So, tonight I'm going to go to bed at 10:30, and I think I'll start pushing that time back either tomorrow or in a few days.
